A 320 m² private residence on three floors in Ain Zara, Tripoli. It is our answer to a question most of the market avoids: what should an economic villa look like?

+

The brief

A small plot by Libyan standards, a low budget, a standard concrete frame and ordinary materials. No cladding, no stone, no expensive structure. In Tripoli these constraints usually produce a box with decoration applied to hide it.

The position

Value does not have to come from what a building costs. It can come from how it is shaped. Every decision on this house was spent on form and light, not on material.

The move

The house is broken into tall, separate volumes of different heights, so a modest footprint reads as a composition rather than a block. The roofline lifts and curves where the volumes meet, giving the street a silhouette without adding a single expensive element.

Materials

Plain render in white and fair-faced grey, black metal louvres, and one vertical line of light that runs the full height of the entrance volume. Nothing is clad. The finish is the wall itself.

The tree

On the side elevation a single tree stands against a concave wall. The curve catches its shadow through the day, so the facade changes with the light at no cost.

The result

A three-floor family house built on an economic budget that holds its own on the street. It shows that good design is not a premium added on top of a project; it is how the budget is spent.
